I WON.
I am so proud of myself! Writing 50,000 words in one month is a huge and difficult goal, and I did it! Not only that, but I have rediscovered my love of writing, and I am positively JOYFUL.
My novel isn't finished at 50,000 words and I can't wait to finish it. I have stumbled through this, having no idea at all how to write a novel. I've figured a few things out along the way, I think. I will be thrilled to finish my first draft, which will be a pretty big mess, and then go to work on the second draft, which will be awesome.
I hit 50,000 words on Sunday night, and called my husband over to the computer to watch the NaNo site verify my win and give me a winner's certificate. Then we celebrated with champagne and Chinese take-out.
I WON!
You worked very hard and deserve to fell accomplished and proud of yourself. You rocked it!
ReplyDeleteI'm tossing back a glass with/for you!! Congrats pretty lady. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'd love to chat with you about your process. About a month ago I drafted a brainstorm for a book... but that's as far as I've gone.
I am soooo proud of you! You did it! And your excitement about the whole process is such a gift. It makes me want to start writing fiction again. for now, i will live vicariously through you! so glad you're loving the process. nothing better.
ReplyDeleteHi Ellen! You are amazing...and an inspiration to me!! I know what you mean about it being a "mess". I've found out first hand that 90 percent of writing is re~writing!! But it's a blast too!! I hope you'll keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteGood thoughts to you my friend!
Warmly,
Traceyxxx
Marnie ~ Thank you so much. I'd love to chat with you, too! My process is somewhat haphazard, but it's working for me.
ReplyDeleteAngella ~ I'm proud of me, too! And I'm still writing, although the little NaNoWriMo widget won't update any more. I am loving this so much, I can't wait to get to the end of my first draft. Thanks so much for your encouragement, it meant so very much to me, truly.
Tracey ~ Thank you! You know, I actually really like editing and proofreading, so I'm looking forward to the rewriting process. Hopefully the end of the second draft won't be such a mess.
Everyone's encouragement was so incredibly important to me last month, and continues to be helpful in my writing journey. Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)
Congrats Ellen! Sounds like this adventure has opened up a whole new world for you let you see your passion - enjoy!
ReplyDeleteGreat work, Ellen! I enjoyed what I was writing, mostly, but that internal editor is damn hard to shut down.
ReplyDeleteIf you write as well as you "scarf" this will be beautiful work indeed!
Congratulations! :)
